Norwalk, CT – Two Injured After Multi vehicle Wreck on I-95 S/Rte 7 Int
Norwalk, CT (October 16, 2025) – Two people were injured Tuesday night, October 14, following a serious collision involving a street sweeper and a construction truck on I-95 South near the Route 7 interchange. The Norwalk Police Department and Connecticut State Police responded around nightfall after receiving reports of a major crash in an active work zone.
Officials say the two commercial vehicles made contact in heavy traffic, causing significant damage to both. The driver of the street sweeper became trapped inside the cab with a serious leg injury. Norwalk firefighters performed an emergency extrication using specialized tools before EMS transported the man to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the construction truck also sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, though details on their condition have not been released.
State troopers secured the scene and temporarily rerouted traffic while investigators documented the crash site and spoke with work crews. Lane closures lasted for over an hour as wreckage was cleared and towing services removed the vehicles. Authorities will review safety protocols and examine what contributed to the crash.
We hope both injured drivers make a swift and full recovery.
