New Rochelle, NY – Fatal Tractor-Trailer vs Box Truck Crash on I-95 at MM 6.1

New Rochelle, NY (September 9, 2025) – One person lost their life in a tragic crash on Tuesday, September 9, on Interstate 95. The deadly collision happened just after midnight near mile marker 6.1 in the southbound lanes. According to New York State Police, a 2026 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was slowing in the right lane for an active construction zone. A 2016 Hino box truck following behind reportedly failed to stop and slammed into the rear of the semi. The impact sparked a fire, engulfing the box truck in flames.

First responders arrived within minutes. Sadly, the box truck driver died at the scene due to the severity of the crash and the fire. The tractor-trailer driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
