Mims, FL (December 22, 2025) – A fatal work-zone crash on Interstate 95 claimed the life of a traffic worker on December 22 in Brevard County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred near mile marker 228 in Mims while a CMTI traffic control truck was assisting with traffic flow due to an earlier vehicle fire.

FHP stated that a semi-truck failed to slow down or move over and crashed into the rear of the CMTI vehicle. Two workers were inside the truck at the time of impact. The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment. The semi-truck driver, a 63-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured but was taken to a medical facility for evaluation.

The crash caused major delays as FHP conducted an investigation and cleared the roadway. Police are investigating the incident.
