Greenwich, CT – Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on I-95 S Claims Life

Greenwich, CT (December 23, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 southbound near Exit 3 claimed the life of an elderly New York woman on Monday, December 22, according to Connecticut State Police. The collision occurred around 4:45 p.m. and resulted in the closure of the highway for several hours as investigators worked at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as 89-year-old Jill Newmark Haskel of Rye, New York. Police reported that Haskel was driving a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek when her vehicle struck the rear of another car after partially crossing into an adjacent lane.

Following the initial impact, her vehicle spun across the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on top of a nearby vehicle in the left lane. Haskel sustained critical injuries and was transported to Greenwich Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The two other drivers involved in the crash were evaluated at the scene and reported no injuries. Connecticut State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to conduct a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash. Traffic delays persisted for hours as crews cleared the roadway and documented evidence.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ms. Haskel’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
