Woodbridge, VA – Fatal Crash Claims Life of Woodbridge Man on I-95 Near Falmouth Exit
Woodbridge, VA (June 27, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday morning on Interstate 95 in Stafford County, resulting in the death of a 36-year-old Woodbridge man.
According to state police, the incident occurred when a 2011 BMW sedan was traveling south on I-95 near the Falmouth exit. The BMW was in the left lane, moving at a slow speed, when it suddenly made an abrupt lane change to the right lane.
Regrettably, a southbound 2013 Chrysler sedan was unable to avoid a collision and rear-ended the BMW at around 7:53 a.m. The impact caused the BMW to collide with the Jersey wall, as confirmed by state police in a news release.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the driver of the BMW, identified as a 36-year-old Woodbridge man, to Mary Washington Hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries later on. It was noted that he had not been wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 52-year-old Stafford man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stafford Hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the exact cause.
