Stamford, CT – Wrong-Way Crash on I-95 Near Exit 9 Results in Injuries
Stamford, CT (September 12, 2024) – In the early hours of September 11, a wrong-way crash involving multiple vehicles occurred on I-95 North near exit 9, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. State police responded to the scene at around 2:53 a.m., where a dark-colored Toyota Corolla had been reported driving in the wrong direction. Upon arrival, authorities found the Toyota Corolla with significant damage, blocking the left lane. Four other vehicles were involved in the collision; fortunately, no severe injuries were reported. The driver of the Corolla, identified as a 29-year-old woman from Bronx, New York, was suspected of driving under the influence. Officers noted that she exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, the smell of alcohol, and watery, bloodshot eyes. The woman was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, improper entry onto a limited access highway, and failure to carry an operator’s license. Police continue investigating the incident.
