Stafford, VA – Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Crash on I-95, Injuries Reported
Stafford, VA (November 16, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred early Saturday morning, November 16, on I-95 Southbound at the 146-mile marker. According to Sgt. Brent Coffey of the Virginia State Police, the crash was caused by a wrong-way driver in a Volvo SUV. The SUV, traveling north in the southbound lanes, collided head-on with a Chevrolet sedan at around 4:05 a.m. The driver of the Chevrolet succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while two passengers suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Mary Washington Hospital for emergency treatment. All southbound lanes were closed for nearly five hours as state troopers conducted an investigation and cleanup operations. Investigations into the crash continue.
