St. Lucie Co, FL – Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on I-95 S/Midway Rd
St. Lucie County, FL (January 21, 2025) – A tragic accident involving a pedestrian and a semi-truck occurred Tuesday morning, January 21 on Interstate 95 South, about two miles south of Midway Road. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers reported that a 1997 black Freightliner semi was traveling south in the center lane when a 43-year-old man from Port St. Lucie walked from the shoulder into the truck’s path. The front right of the semi struck the man, causing him to be thrown onto the outer lane.
Emergency responders arrived at 10:21 a.m. and transported the pedestrian to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The truck driver, a 34-year-old man from Hollywood, FL, was unharmed. The incident remains under investigation by FHP, with efforts focused on understanding why the pedestrian entered the roadway.
