St Johns Co, FL – 77-Year-Old Woman Seriously Injured in Crash on I-95/SR 206
St. Johns County, FL (April 16, 2025) – A 77-year-old woman from St. Augustine sustained serious injuries in a three-vehicle collision on April 16 along the southbound lanes of I-95 near the State Road 206 exit, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The crash occurred when the woman, who was driving an SUV, initially took the exit ramp for SR 206. For reasons that remain unclear, she suddenly veered back onto the main highway, crossing lanes and colliding with a white SUV towing a trailer. The second SUV fled the scene, and authorities are still working to locate the vehicle and its driver. After striking the fleeing SUV, the woman’s vehicle bounced off a nearby guardrail and crashed into the rear of a semi-truck. The impact ruptured the semi’s gas tank, causing a significant fuel spill that closed multiple lanes and required a hazardous materials crew for cleanup. Paramedics and the St. Johns County Fire Rescue provided on-site medical attention before transporting the elderly driver to a local hospital, where she remains in serious condition. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed and remained at the scene to assist with the investigation. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash and urges anyone with information about the white SUV to come forward.
We extend our deepest hopes for the recovery of the injured woman.
