Savannah, GA – Roadway Worker Injured in Crash on I-95 at I-16

Savannah, GA (March 22, 2025) – A roadway maintenance worker was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on March 22 in a crash on I-95 southbound at the I-16 interchange, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). The accident occurred while a Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) maintenance crew was removing traffic barrels along the highway. A Nissan Altima veered off the road, crossed into the center median, and crashed into a maintenance vehicle. The impact trapped one of the workers between the Nissan and the maintenance truck. At the time of the crash, a Georgia State Patrol vehicle was stationed behind the work zone with its emergency lights activated. The entire incident was recorded on the patrol car’s dash camera. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the injured worker was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials have not yet released information about the driver of the Nissan or whether any charges will be filed. Authorities are still investigating the incident, and further updates may follow.
