Richmond, VA – Five-Vehicle Pileup on I-95 North Near MM 72 Leaves One Injured
Richmond, VA (October 3, 2023) – A serious collision involving five vehicles took place on Tuesday afternoon, October 3rd, on I-95 North, resulting in injuries and causing considerable disruption.
Around 12:04 p.m., the Virginia State Police quickly responded to a multi-vehicle accident near the 72-mile marker on I-95 North.
Initial reports suggest that a red 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck abruptly stopped in the left lane due to a flat tire. Subsequently, a white 2024 Chrysler Pacifica also came to a stop in the left lane behind the Dodge Ram.
Moments later, a white 2012 Nissan Altima approached the scene, intending to move from the left lane to the center lane. Unfortunately, it collided with the rear of the white Pacifica and partially came to a stop in the center lane.
Tragically, the Pacifica found itself directly in the path of a 2020 Freightliner box truck, which had insufficient time to brake. The Freightliner violently struck the rear of the Altima, tragically running over it.
Following the initial impact, the Pacifica was forcefully pushed into the rear of the red Dodge Ram. Consequently, the Pacifica spun into the center lane, where it collided with a black Dodge Ram, as reported by the police.
The driver of the red Dodge Ram, a 32-year-old resident of Richmond, has been charged with improper stopping on a highway.
The driver of the white Nissan Altima, identified as 57-year-old Kenneth Milling of Chester, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was promptly transported to the VCU Medical Center for medical attention.
Currently, authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this distressing incident.
Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate accident, and we sincerely hope for Mr. Kenneth Milling’s swift recovery.
