Richmond, VA – Crash on I-95 S Involving Tractor-Trailer Injures Several
Richmond, VA (January 7, 2026) – Several people were injured in a chain-reaction crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-95 south near mile marker 71.8 on Wednesday afternoon, January 7. Virginia State Police reported the collision occurred around 1:15 p.m., approximately three miles from the Bells Road exit.
Investigators stated that a disabled vehicle stopped in the left lane was struck, triggering a sequence involving five vehicles. The tractor-trailer became disabled during the impact, partially blocking lanes. Multiple occupants from different vehicles were transported to medical facilities for evaluation.
Authorities confirmed the injuries were not life-threatening. Lane closures remained in place while crews worked to remove a vehicle trapped beneath the tractor-trailer. The investigation is ongoing.
