Providence, RI – Pedestrian Fatality After Collision on I-95 N

Providence, RI (November 6, 2024) – Early Wednesday morning, November 6, a tragic accident occurred on I-95 North in Providence, leading to the death of a Florida man. Around 5:41 a.m., Rhode Island State Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on the interstate. The victim, identified as 61-year-old Kevin Elliot McCourt, had reportedly stopped his vehicle on I-95 South near the Eddy and Barton Street exit. After leaving his vehicle, he attempted to cross the northbound lanes, where a Volkswagen SUV fatally struck him. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. State police are investigating why McCourt attempted to cross the highway, and more details will be shared soon.
