Providence, RI – Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-95 N/Exit 37

Providence, RI (September 23, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident on Interstate 95 northbound left one person dead Monday night, September 22, in Providence. Rhode Island State Police reported that the incident happened around 9:15 p.m. near Exit 37. Investigators said the victim was attempting to cross the highway when they were struck by two vehicles in the high-speed lane.

Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of the family. Both drivers involved remained at the crash site and are cooperating with state police investigators. One of the drivers was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries but has since been stabilized.

State police closed part of I-95 north for several hours while troopers conducted an on-site investigation and cleared the roadway. Authorities are working to determine what led the pedestrian to enter the highway at that time of night. No charges have been filed at this stage, but the case remains under review.
