Pittsfield, ME – Illegal Entry Causes Three-Vehicle Crash on I-95 near MM 146, Injuries Reported
Pittsfield, ME (July 3, 2023) – A three-vehicle crash occurred on I-95 in Pittsfield, Maine, on Monday, July 3, when a driver from Augusta illegally entered a highway crossover, resulting in an injury collision.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. on the northbound lanes of I-95, near mile marker 146. The responsible driver, identified as 75-year-old Larry DiPietro, was operating a gray 2005 Hyundai. DiPietro slowed down and attempted to enter the highway crossover from the driving lane, violating traffic regulations.
Due to DiPietro’s actions, a chain reaction was triggered, leading to a collision involving three vehicles as other drivers tried to avoid him. Fortunately, non-life-threatening injuries were reported among the individuals involved.
Thankfully, DiPietro himself emerged from the incident unharmed. Authorities have charged DiPietro with driving to endanger.
