Pittsfield, ME – Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on I-95/MM 147 Kills 82-Year-Old Driver

Pittsfield, ME (December 31, 2024) – A wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 near mile marker 147 claimed the life of an 82-year-old man and injured another driver on Tuesday morning, December 31. Maine State Police received reports of a Ford Focus traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near mile marker 142 in Burnham around 11 a.m. Moments later, the vehicle collided head-on with a Ford F-150 driven by a 27-year-old man from Stetson. The driver of the Ford Focus, identified as Ivan Cunningham of Corinna, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained injuries and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. Authorities are investigating the events leading up to the crash.
