Petersburg, VA – 21-Year-Old Killed in Pedestrian Crash on I-95/MM 52

Petersburg, VA (April 25, 2025) – A 21-year-old man tragically lost his life after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in the early hours of Wednesday, April 23, according to Virginia State Police. The incident occurred around 12:51 a.m. near the 52-mile marker in the city of Petersburg. Authorities say a tractor-trailer was heading south on I-95 when it fatally struck the pedestrian, who was reportedly walking in the travel lane at the time.

The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. First responders arrived quickly but sadly pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family. Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
