Palm Beach Gardens, FL – Good Samaritan Killed on I-95 Near PGA Blvd While Aiding Crash Victims

Palm Beach Gardens, FL (July 28, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred on I-95 in Palm Beach Gardens, resulting in the death of a 59-year-old man from Port St. Lucie. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95, just north of PGA Boulevard.

The victim had stopped to offer assistance to two individuals involved in a car crash. The vehicle had flipped over on the interstate, prompting the Good Samaritan to lend a helping hand. However, while he was on the inside paved shoulder of I-95, a Mercedes GLE 450, driven by a 76-year-old man from Texas, collided with him.

The impact caused the man to be thrown onto the inside grass median, and despite prompt medical attention, he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol did not release the name of the deceased.

The driver of the Mercedes had a 71-year-old woman as a passenger, and fortunately, both of them escaped the accident unharmed.

As of Friday afternoon, no criminal charges were filed against the driver, and the investigation remains open.
