Palm Bay, FL – Two Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-95
Palm Bay, FL (May 2, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run crash on the morning of Friday, May 2, claimed the lives of two people on the shoulder of I-95, prompting a criminal investigation and the arrest of the suspected driver. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victims were working as surveyors and had parked their truck on the side of the highway near Palm Bay. While standing in front of their vehicle, they were fatally struck by a semi-truck that reportedly failed to stop and continued southbound.
The crash occurred in the early morning hours and was reported by passing motorists. The semi-truck was later located in Palm Beach County. Law enforcement tracked the vehicle and took 36-year-old Hassan Abdirahman Sheikh Ali of Charlotte, North Carolina, into custody. He now faces charges of hit and run involving death, a serious felony offense under Florida law. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Brevard County authorities. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The Florida Highway Patrol’s traffic homicide unit is leading the investigation.
