Orangeburg County, SC – Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Collision Claims Life on I-95 Near MM 89
Orangeburg County, SC (September 12, 2023) – Tragedy struck on Tuesday, September 12th, as a fatal auto-pedestrian collision unfolded on Interstate 95 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina.
The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95, near mile marker 89, around 2:30 p.m. Master Trooper Brandon Bolt reported the incident, which occurred approximately 10 miles north of Bowman.
According to Trooper Bolt, a 2017 Nissan SUV was headed south when it veered off the road to the right and tragically struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was standing on the shoulder with a disabled vehicle when the collision occurred.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name yet.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal collision, aiming to unveil the cause of this tragic event.
