Orangeburg Co., SC – Two Killed, One Injured in Fatal Crash on I-95 Near I-26
Orangeburg County, SC (May 6, 2025) – A deadly two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two individuals and left another seriously injured in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 6, on Interstate 95. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. near the 87-mile marker, close to the intersection with Interstate 26. A 2019 Chevrolet Equinox traveling northbound struck a 1987 dump truck, which was also headed in the same direction.
Tragically, both the driver and the front-seat passenger of the Chevy SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released by the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office. A third occupant in the rear seat of the SUV suffered injuries and was transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia for emergency treatment. The current condition of the surviving passenger remains unknown. The driver of the dump truck, who was alone in the vehicle at the time, was not injured in the crash. Investigators from the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to look into the circumstances that led to the collision.
