Old Lyme, CT – Fatal Collision Between Two Trucks on I-95 in Old Lyme Claims Driver’s Life

Old Lyme, CT (September 29, 2023) – On the afternoon of September 29th, around 1:17 p.m., a tragic accident unfolded on Interstate 95 in Old Lyme.

This unfortunate event involved a collision between a freight truck and a dumpster rental truck. The southbound freight truck was suddenly rear-ended by the dumpster rental truck.

The impact of this collision caused the dumpster rental truck to swerve off the road, crossing into the right shoulder, and violently crashing into a metal beam guardrail. The force of the impact led to the truck overturning onto its passenger’s side, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.

Sadly, the driver of the dumpster rental truck, identified as 63-year-old Michael Finkeldey from Westbrook, lost his life in this devastating incident.

Remarkably, the driver of the freight truck emerged from the wreckage unharmed.

Connecticut State Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident. They urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist.
