North Attleborough, MA – Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on I-95 Near Massachusetts-Rhode Island Line Leaves One Dead
North Attleborough, MA (August 28, 2023) – Tragedy struck on I-95 as a deadly collision claimed the life of a Massachusetts man. The incident occurred near the Massachusetts-Rhode Island line, and authorities are now seeking the driver of the responsible vehicle who fled the scene.
The Massachusetts State Police responded to initial reports of a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound in the vicinity of Exit 7. Upon arrival, troopers discovered two severely damaged vehicles – a 2015 Jaguar XJ and a late-model Cadillac Escalade.
Eyewitnesses informed law enforcement that a third vehicle, a 2006 Buick LaCrosse, was also involved in the accident. The Buick had initially come to a stop after the collision but left the scene shortly after.
The tragic outcome befell the driver of the Jaguar, a 58-year-old man from Foxborough, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 61-year-old resident of Providence, Rhode Island, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Investigators pieced together the sequence of events, revealing that the Buick was traveling southbound on I-95. It collided with the Cadillac near Exit 7, causing the Cadillac’s driver to lose control. The vehicle veered into the median and crashed into the northbound Jaguar.
State troopers gathered a description of the Buick from witnesses and promptly shared it with local police departments in the area.
The ongoing investigation is being led by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, with contributions from the Troop H Detective Unit, Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, MSP Crime Scene Services Section, and MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
