New Castle, DE – Fatal Hit-and-Run on I-95 Near Route 141 Claims Life of Wilmington Man

New Castle, DE (September 28, 2023) – On the morning of September 28th, a tragic hit-and-run occurred on I-95 near New Castle, Delaware, resulting in the unfortunate death of a 59-year-old man from Wilmington.

Around 2 a.m., an unidentified individual was walking on I-95 north near Route 141 when they were struck by a tractor-trailer. Shockingly, the driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop and fled the scene, leaving the victim severely injured.

The Delaware State Police promptly responded to the incident, with their immediate focus on providing medical assistance to the injured man. Despite their best efforts, the victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

In consideration of the victim’s family, the Delaware State Police have chosen not to disclose the victim’s identity until all family members have been notified.

The aftermath of the accident led to the closure of the affected section of I-95 for around three hours. During this time, investigators diligently gathered evidence and cleared the scene.

The investigation into this tragic accident by the Delaware State Police is ongoing, with a strong commitment to holding the responsible party accountable.
