Nassau County, FL – Fatal Crash on I-95 near MM 381 Claims Lives of 3 Minors and Leaves 4 Others Severely Injured
Nassau County, FL (July 1, 2023) – Tragedy struck on Saturday morning, July 1, 2023, in Nassau County when a collision on Interstate 95 claimed the lives of two children and a teenager, while several others sustained severe injuries.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. as a car and a sports utility vehicle were traveling south on I-95 near mile marker 381, close to the Georgia state line.
For reasons still unknown, the car decelerated or came to a stop while crossing the bridge that separates Florida and Georgia, resulting in a collision with the SUV, which was unable to avoid the accident.
The car’s driver, a 24-year-old from Bayshore, New York, is currently in serious condition. The remaining passengers, including a 47-year-old and a 14-year-old, are in critical condition. Tragically, three minors aged 10, 12, and 14, who were riding in the car, lost their lives in the collision.
The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old from Apex, North Carolina, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the crash, lanes were closed for an extended period, causing significant traffic congestion. However, the lanes have since reopened.
