Miami, FL (December 22, 2024) – A fatal hit-and-run crash on I-95 South in Miami-Dade early Saturday morning, December 21, left one driver dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Authorities are now searching for the suspect who fled the scene. The incident occurred around 4:10 a.m., just south of Northwest 79th Street. FHP reports that a dark blue BMW sedan traveling southbound in the outside lane struck the rear of a gold Nissan sedan. The collision sent both vehicles hurtling several hundred feet before they came to rest in the highway’s outside lanes. Tragically, the Nissan caught fire following the crash, with the driver trapped inside. Emergency responders pronounced the driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, dead at the scene. The BMW driver was absent when FHP arrived, and investigators believe the suspect fled the area on foot. The roadway was temporarily closed to repair the damage caused by the fire. FHP continues investigating the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward.
