Miami-Dade County, FL – Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on I-95/NW St Claims One Life
Miami-Dade County, FL (December 20, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run accident occurred early Saturday morning, December 20, leaving one person dead on I-95 in Miami-Dade County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the collision happened around 4:10 a.m. near Northwest 79th Street on the southbound lanes of I-95.
Reports indicate that a dark blue BMW sedan collided with a gold-tone Nissan sedan, causing both vehicles to travel several hundred feet before stopping in the outside lanes. Tragically, the Nissan became engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside. Lt. Alex Camacho, FHP spokesperson, stated, “Due to the collision, the Nissan became fully engulfed in flames with the driver still inside.” Emergency personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue extinguished the fire but were unable to save the driver of the Nissan, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW fled the scene, and authorities are actively investigating to locate the suspect.
