Melbourne, FL – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 Claims One Life and Injures Others

Melbourne, FL (December 12, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash occurred on I-95 southbound near the Pineda Causeway on Wednesday morning, December 12. The collision involved five vehicles, including a semi-truck, and resulted in one fatality and several injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported the crash happened around 7:51 a.m. A 22-year-old Melbourne man lost his life when his 2024 Hyundai Elantra was struck by a semi-truck driven by a 23-year-old from North Carolina. The impact pushed the Hyundai into a guardrail, where it burst into flames, trapping the driver inside. Other vehicles involved included a 2022 Ford Explorer, driven by a 44-year-old Cocoa man, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, whose 33-year-old driver was hospitalized. A 14-year-old passenger from Cocoa was taken to Viera Hospital, while the driver of a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan, also from Cocoa, suffered injuries. The FHP is continuing its investigation.
