Mamaroneck, NY – Wrong-Way Crash on I-95 Leaves One Critically Injured
Mamaroneck, NY (February 24, 2025) – A wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 in the Village of Mamaroneck early Friday, February 21 left one person in critical but stable condition, according to the New York State Police. The incident occurred in the northbound lanes near Exit 19 when authorities received reports of a vehicle traveling southbound against traffic. Shortly after, the wrong-way driver, identified as 38-year-old Walter Perez-Menchu, collided with another vehicle, causing severe injuries.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and transported the injured victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. The crash led to significant traffic delays as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet determined whether impairment was a factor.
