Lorton, VA – Fatal Crash on I-95 NB/MM 163 Involves Two Speeding Vehicles
Lorton, VA (December 18, 2024) – A crash on I-95 northbound near mile marker 163 in Fairfax County resulted in one fatality and left another individual with life-threatening injuries on Monday afternoon, December 18.
Virginia State Police spokesperson Matthew Demlein provided details in a news release. Two vehicles were traveling at high speeds when one, a BMW convertible, abruptly changed lanes and collided with a third vehicle. The BMW veered off the roadway, hitting a guardrail and a jersey wall. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and tragically struck by another car involved in the crash. They were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the BMW, also unrestrained, was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. Emergency responders transported the individual to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. The other drivers involved in the collision were unharmed. Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
