Liberty County, GA – Fatal Accident on I-95 at MM 79 Leaves One Dead, 5 Injured

Liberty County, GA (July 10, 2023) – One person tragically lost their life while five others sustained injuries in a devastating two-car accident on Sunday, July 9th, in Liberty County, Georgia.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Stephen Jones, the incident took place shortly after 2 p.m. on Interstate 95 at mile marker 79.

Trooper Jones explained that a white Chrysler Aspen, traveling in the left southbound lane, veered to the right in an attempt to avoid debris on the road. Tragically, the vehicle collided with a Chevy Silverado, causing the Chrysler to overturn multiple times. The violent collision resulted in the ejection of a woman, who was pinned underneath the flipped Silverado.

Upon witnessing the harrowing scene, compassionate motorists traveling on the interstate came to the woman’s aid. Together, they lifted the pickup truck off her, displaying exceptional bravery and teamwork. Swiftly, emergency responders airlifted her to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where she was regrettably pronounced deceased.

Additionally, five other individuals involved in the accident were also transported to Memorial for medical attention and treatment.
