Jacksonville, FL – Crash on I-95 Leaves One Dead, One Critically Hurt
Jacksonville, FL (December 7, 2024) – A 29-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and a 31-year-old woman sustained critical injuries in a wrong-way collision early Saturday morning, December 7 on I-95 near Pecan Park Road. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the accident occurred at around 3:48 a.m. when a sedan traveling southbound in the northbound lanes collided head-on with another sedan. The impact caused the victim’s car to overturn multiple times, ejecting the driver. Moments later, a tractor-trailer struck the victim in the middle travel lane. Sadly, the victim, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second sedan suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for emergency care. The tractor-trailer involved in the incident was later located at a nearby weigh station in Nassau County for further investigation. This devastating crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol as they work to determine the sequence of events.
