Hollywood, FL – Ranger Killed, Two Troopers Injured in I-95 Multi-Vehicle Wreck
Hollywood, FL (January 1, 2025) – A tragic chain-reaction crash on southbound I-95 in Hollywood early New Year’s Day claimed the life of a 28-year-old Road Ranger from Pembroke Pines and injured two Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers.
The incident occurred around 3:37 a.m. near Hollywood Boulevard. The crash began when two FHP vehicles and a Road Ranger service truck, all with activated lights, were assisting with an earlier accident in the express lane. A speeding 2012 BMW X6, driven by a 45-year-old Miami woman, failed to avoid a 2006 Honda Accord, causing the BMW to hit a wall and then the Road Ranger truck. The impact pushed the truck into an FHP vehicle and struck both the Road Ranger and another patrol car.
Hollywood Fire Rescue pronounced the Road Ranger dead at the scene. The two troopers, both Davie residents, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated on-site. The Honda driver also suffered minor injuries, while the BMW driver was reportedly unharmed. Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Road Ranger’s loved ones. We also wish a speedy recovery for the injured troopers and others affected by this tragic accident.
