Florence, SC – One Killed in RV vs SUV Crash on I-95 SB at MM 164

Florence, SC (February 11, 2025) – A fatal crash involving an RV and a Ford Explorer occurred on Interstate 95 southbound near mile marker 164 in the Pee Dee region on Tuesday, February 11. According to LCpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the vehicles collided around 11 a.m., causing the RV to catch fire. Fire crews from West Florence Fire Rescue and Windy Hill Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

Tragically, a passenger in the RV succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, while the RV driver escaped without harm. The driver of the Ford Explorer was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Fire rescue personnel assisted the RV driver and his two dogs by arranging temporary lodging. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
