Brunswick, GA – Fatal Collision on I-95 near Dover Bluff Rd Causes Injuries

Brunswick, GA (November 3, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning, November 3rd, on I-95 South near Dover Bluff Road, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The Georgia State Patrol quickly responded.

The incident involved a box truck with three passengers traveling southbound in the right lane of I-95. It was rear-ended by a tanker semi-truck also headed south.

The collision caused the box truck to swerve onto the west shoulder, while the tanker, carrying hazardous hot asphalt, overturned in the median and ignited. Authorities cordoned off the area within a half-mile radius to address the fire and hazardous materials.

Sadly, the tanker’s driver, Mr. Shawn Donald, 43, from West of Hoboken, Georgia, lost his life at the scene.

The box truck occupants were swiftly taken to a local hospital for treatment, and their current conditions are undisclosed.

The Environmental Protection Agency was notified and responded to assist with the hazardous material cleanup.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
