Brevard County, FL – Fatal Collision on I-95 near Malabar Road Involving SUV and Trailer Leaves 60-Year-Old Man Dead

Brevard County, FL (August 9, 2023) – A tragic incident occurred early on Wednesday morning, August 9th, claiming the life of a 60-year-old Palm Bay man. The fatal accident took place on I-95 in Brevard County, where the victim’s SUV collided with a van towing a boat on a trailer.

At around 4:25 a.m., on the southbound lanes of I-95 near Malabar Road, the collision took place.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the initial collision involved a 2018 Jeep Renegade and a 2011 Ford E-250 van that was towing a boat. The driver of the Jeep, a 25-year-old woman from Melbourne, failed to maintain a safe following distance behind the van, driven by a 55-year-old man from Pompano Beach. As a result, the Jeep collided with the trailer and boat being towed by the van.

The van came to a halt in the outer lane of I-95. Shortly thereafter, a 2013 Dodge Journey driven by the Palm Bay man crashed into the rear of the boat and trailer, according to the crash report filed by the FHP.

Tragically, the Palm Bay man lost his life at the scene of the collision. The FHP confirmed his passing.

Both of the other drivers involved in the accident remained uninjured and stayed at the scene to cooperate with the authorities, as reported by troopers.

The collision necessitated the temporary closure of I-95 in the vicinity of the crash.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
