Brevard Co., FL – Injury Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 Involving Patrol Cars
Brevard County, FL (January 18, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash involving a civilian vehicle and two law enforcement patrol cars occurred on Interstate 95 northbound near mile marker 185 in Brevard County on Saturday, January 17. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision happened while a trooper was investigating a separate hit-and-run incident in the left lane of the interstate.
Authorities stated that a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was parked and unoccupied behind a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle as part of the active investigation. A blue Kia traveling northbound failed to avoid the stopped patrol car and struck it from behind. The impact caused the sheriff’s office vehicle to collide with the rear of the FHP patrol car positioned ahead.
The driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries and was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol trooper involved was also taken to the same hospital with reported minor injuries for further evaluation. No additional injuries were reported at the scene.
Traffic along northbound I-95 was temporarily affected while Florida Highway Patrol investigated and crews cleared the roadway.
We extend our well wishes to those injured and hope for their continued medical improvement.
