Brevard Co., FL – Fatal DUI Crash During I-95 Chase Kills 3, Injures One
Brevard County, FL (April 7, 2025) – A high-speed pursuit along Interstate 95 in Brevard County ended in a devastating crash on April 7, leaving three people dead and another injured after a white Mercedes collided with two trucks near an exit ramp. Florida Highway Patrol stated that the fatal collision occurred after the Mercedes, driven by 36-year-old Marcus Hodges, struck two trucks pulled over near an exit. The vehicle was reportedly speeding and attempting to flee authorities when it lost control. The crash caused massive damage to the vehicle’s front and passenger sides.
The three deceased victims, identified as Alicia Maria Carter (31), Eleasya Fulton (24), and Leon Holmes (41), were passengers in the Mercedes. Emergency crews confirmed they were partially ejected from the vehicle and tragically died at the scene. A tow truck operator, a 39-year-old man from Palm Bay assisting with roadside service, was also injured and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Authorities noted a strong smell of alcohol inside the Mercedes and discovered an open bottle of Corona. Hodges reportedly crawled out of the destroyed windshield and was later hospitalized for his injuries. His blood alcohol level measured at .147—well above the legal limit. Hodges now faces several serious charges, including DUI manslaughter, first-degree murder, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a license. The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
Our hearts go out to the families affected by this tragic loss. We wish the injured tow truck operator a full recovery during this difficult time.
