Baltimore, MD – Fatal Collision on I-95 at Chesaco Avenue Involving Tractor-Trailer Claims One Life

Baltimore, MD (September 30, 2023) – A tragic incident occurred in Baltimore County on the morning of Saturday, September 30th, leading to the untimely passing of Denzel Butcher, a Baltimore resident.

Denzel was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima when a tractor-trailer rear-ended his vehicle near the junction of Interstate 95 South and Chesaco Avenue, at around 2:30 a.m.

The Maryland State Police swiftly responded to the scene. Regrettably, Denzel Butcher succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the site of the collision.

A 28-year-old male passenger traveling with Mr Butcher in the Nissan Altima sustained injuries and was promptly transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for medical care.

Initial investigations explored the possibility that the Nissan Altima may have become disabled in the third lane of Interstate 95 when the tractor-trailer forcefully collided with it.

The investigation into this tragic collision is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team, with support from troopers stationed at the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
