Augusta, ME – Several Injured in Fatal Crash on I-95 S near Exit 113
Augusta, ME (September 13, 2024) – A fatal accident on I-95 South near Exit 113 claimed the lives of a woman and a dog on Friday afternoon, September 13th. The crash involved five vehicles and occurred around 3:10 p.m. as traffic was slowing due to a construction zone. According to Maine State Police, the accident happened when a pickup truck failed to slow down in time and rear-ended an SUV, causing a chain reaction that led to the involvement of three additional vehicles. The female passenger of the SUV, as well as a dog inside the car, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Several others involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Maine General Hospital for treatment. The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for more than two hours. Maine State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and have not ruled out further developments.
