The Maryland State Police reported that the crash occurred around 2:50 a.m. just south of I-195. A preliminary investigation revealed that 27-year-old Persia Samina Ransford, of Takoma Park, was driving a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer when she collided with the rear of a 2004 tractor-trailer operated by 59-year-old Asmaeil Faraj Abusharia from Sewaren, New Jersey.
Following the impact, a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by 53-year-old Luis Del Cid of Middle River, also struck Ransford’s vehicle, exacerbating the wreck. Emergency responders, including Baltimore County Fire and EMS, arrived swiftly, assessing the injuries and transporting both Ransford and Del Cid to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for further treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed. The Maryland State Police’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division conducted a post-crash inspection of the tractor-trailer to determine compliance with safety regulations.
The southbound lanes of I-95 remained closed for several hours as investigators gathered evidence and crews worked to clear the scene. The investigation into the exact cause of the crash is ongoing.
